The Thomas Horan Memorial Scholarship Program was established in 2010 and is available to eligible Titusville Academy high school students who participate in TTA and/or local school district or community athletics; embodiment of a healthy competitive spirit; the desire to do one’s best with emphasis on good sportsmanship and embracing the spirit of play.

Senior class students may apply to receive financial assistance via a written essay detailing their continuing education goals and/or athletic pursuits and how they may benefit from the scholarship award. Financial aid awards may be used for any part of a student’s organized athletics activities and for post high school education, including books, tuition, room and board, etc.

The Titusville Academy is a New Jersey registered charitable organization. One hundred percent of all contributions to the Thomas Horan Memorial Scholarship Program go directly to students. The Titusville Academy’s board of trustees, administrative and the Thomas Horan Family volunteer their time and energy to provide this program to the students.

Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Checks should be made payable to: The Titusville Academy. Please identify your donation as restricted to the Thomas Horan Memorial Scholarship Program on the memo line of your check.

Guidelines and Procedures

STEP ONE: Eligibility Requirements

  1. Senior Student’s High School Achievements: Participation in TTA and/or local school district or community athletics; embodiment of a healthy competitive spirit; the desire to do one’s best with emphasis on good sportsmanship and embracing the spirit of play.
  2. Submission of Written Essay by student: Describe continuing education goals and how he/she will benefit from scholarship award,
  3. Interview of Candidates: 2 trustees and 1 member of the Horan Family; does not include TTA administration.

STEP TWO: Timelines and Submission Dates

  1. Senior Student’s Essay: Submitted to his/her TTA counselor by April 1st.
  2. Senior Student’s Essay to Board committee: By April 8th.
  3. Panel Interview of Applicants: Conduct interviews at TTA during last week in April.
  4. Board Approval of Student Application: By third quarterly board meeting.

Award Limits

$500 minimum; $1,000 maximum
