Teacher with students in science class - Titusville Academy - private special ed schoolInstruction is provided in small group settings and one-to-one when appropriate. All classrooms are run and staffed by highly qualified, fully-certified instructors, teaching interdisciplinary units developed using the Understanding by Design (UbD) format. UbD is a tool for educational planning focusing on "teaching for understanding," and emphasizing "backward design," the practice of looking at the outcomes in order to design curriculum units, performance assessments, and classroom instruction, leading students to deep understanding of the subject content at hand. At the heart of UbB planning is identifying what students will know, what students will be able to do, and the performance tasks they will be assessed on to demonstrate evidence of learning.

Multi-sensory teaching techniques are differentially applied according to each students needs and learning styles.

Classroom technologies are selectively developed and applied to enhance each student's understanding and application of the subject content.
